Usually the first step involves sending a cover letter along with a résumé and a filled out application form. Often the resume is an acceptable place for you to list some of your interests, usually at the very bottom. This is because your education and experience will make up the bulk of the most important information for the job you are interviewing for. Listing you interests is nice but optional. It rounds you out as a person and who knows, you might just connect with your potential employer if they share a similar hobby.
